After over 35 years in private practice and working extensively with families, schools and businesses, Dr. Turchetta brought a team of highly qualified clinicians together into one facility and founded Strategic Psychological Services (SPS), an innovative, collaborative multi-disciplinary practice.
Why we are different
SPS provides a comprehensive range of behavioral health services – all in one practice. Instead of referring clients out for other treatments or follow-up resources that can take extended periods of time to schedule and confirm insurance for, we can improve patient care quickly and efficiently with our full-service, multi-disciplinary practice. Here, clients can obtain many of their needed services from psychologists and social workers, all in the same warm and attentive environment.
Our mission is to provide strategic, comprehensive and integrated mental and behavioral health care services for our clients. Using evidence-based assessment and interventions we uphold the highest standards of ethical care for those individuals, families and couples we serve. We are committed to promoting health and wellness while improving the lives of our clients through excellence in prevention, intervention and supports.
1. Innovative, multi-disciplinary practice
At SPS, we offer a comprehensive range of specialty services, including: psychotherapy, counseling and health promotion, psychological testing and evaluation, educational and learning disability evaluation.
At SPS, each of our clinicians knows that every client, session, and situation is unique, and understands the importance of matching his or her therapeutic style to each client’s particular needs. Our clinicians work collaboratively with each other and with our clients to identify areas of concern, develop appropriate goals, and implement effective, personalized treatment plans and strategies, utilizing a multi-disciplinary team approach.
2. Evidence-based care model
Our psychologists utilize the latest and most effective, evidence-based psychological counseling techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for depression and anxiety disorders, stress management and relaxation training, biofeedback, health psychology and wellness techniques, behavior modification, conflict resolution, anger management, and group therapy.
Our evidence-based practice integrates three basic principles: (1) the best available research evidence bearing on whether and why a treatment works, (2) clinical expertise (judgment and experience) to rapidly identify each patient’s unique health state and diagnosis, risks and benefits of potential interventions, and (3) client preferences and values.
3. Collaborative team approach to patient care
SPS’ interdisciplinary approach to managing patient care throughout the continuum helps individuals with medical problems linked to lifestyle behaviors, psychiatric conditions and stress. Working closely with referral sources, other partners and family members, our coordinated care helps improve clients’ health through behavior change to achieve the highest quality and most cost-effective outcomes.
Benefits to referral sources and clients:
- Timely patient contact to increase the likelihood of engagement
- Continuous exchange of pertinent information between providers regarding treatment, progress and/ or concerns
- Patient guidance on properly communicating their needs to their PCP
- Assistance with appropriate diagnosis and treatment
- Better patient outcomes and quality of care
4. Individualized, tailored approach
At SPS, we provide the highest quality care by a distinguished team of clinicians. Each of our psychologists, social workers, counselors offer unique, specialized expertise, extensive clinical experience, and knowledge of state-of-the-art, evidence-based therapeutic interventions and assessment approaches. Many of our staff members hold or have held academic affiliations with highly regarded academic institutions. Our team is committed to ongoing educational and professional development and consultation to continue to provide cutting-edge individualized approaches that work best for each clients.
5. Holistic and lifestyle-oriented
We take a holistic approach to patient care, one that focuses on a patient’s total wellness, or well being, instead of specific diseases, or ailments. Holistic medicine is a form of healing that considers the whole person-body, mind, spirit, and emotions-in the quest for optimal health and wellness.
As a form of healing, we strive to address the symptoms of psychological and emotional distress that result from anxiety, depression, and other emotional issues. This form of therapy concentrates its attention on the relationship people have with their world and how it is expressed through their sense of feeling, thinking, and being.
We teach our clients to recognize the symptoms of an issue and address them before they infect the rest of the body as a whole. This technique is useful in the treatment of individuals, couples, and families and helps uncover underlying reasons for symptomatic behaviors and emotions. Clients are taught to identify their situations of concern and learn ways to heal themselves.
6. Patient-centered experience
Our newly expanded facility conveniently located on Post Road in Warwick, Rhode Island, fosters a positive experience for our clients in a relaxed, home-like environment.
We realize that the waiting room is an extension of the care we provide, and can impact client’s mood and well-being. That is why we have transformed the space with comfortable furnishings, warm soft colors and spacious seating.
